I went to the Delaware State Fair show last night. But I’m going to lay this post out a little differently. *winks*

IN THE BEGINNING…

Two days ago I was sure that I wouldn’t make it to the DE concert due to lack of transportation. My friend Anna and I were really upset because this would be our last concert before we head our separate ways to college and his concerts are great fixes for whatever problem you have. Luckily our friend Genevieve (the true hero of the story) saved us both and drove us over 100 miles to the state fair. It worked out perfectly because we bought her a ticket and snuck her up to our section. The people in our row were highly amused by us and made space for her even though she was technically supposed to be 16 rows back.

We spent a couple hours in the fair section…talking with people, getting something to eat, watching people get sick on rides (bwaah) and then headed over to the grandstand building to see if we could get in. Of course it was blocked off. It always is, but we managed to sneak into the place to view Gavin, Brian, Whynot & Rodney’s sound check. These are fun, usually just as entertaining as the concerts themselves. Anyway, they were practicing “We belong together”, one of Gavin’s unreleased songs (my personal favorite) and we had the delight of listening to them practice this for about 20 to 25 minutes. This would be the sound check:

Time went on and we decided to go do a few more things at the fair before heading in to our concert seats. Just a word of warning. Strawberry milkshakes and spinning rides aren’t the greatest combination! We saw a mini parade with some corps or such. They were marching and my friends and I went to a military high school, and ended up marching on step and not even realizing it. It was very amusing, I felt like I had to salute someone! There was also this really funny inflatable guy..

RIGHT, so the actual concert. We went inside and went to our seats and sat down for a while. Where we were, we could look right over to our right and see the buses about 70 yards away. There was a jersey barrier between the fans and the open field where the bus was next to the stage. Many fans lined the walls in hope of catching a glimpse of Hoobastank and/or Gavin. This was amusing, I fiddled with my camera while I watched fans scream at techies who they thought were band members..very funny stuff. Then we spotted Gavin outside talking with some backstage-passers & other people. We had made up a sign for him so we decided this would be the best time for him to get a clear shot of what it said. So we walk up to the wall with our neon pink (only color we had) sign and hold it up and just start talking with each other. Gavin definetley saw it. He stood near his bus greeting people..occasionally glancing at it. After about 10 minutes of him trying to read it we found it had a glare on it so we tilted it. He walked just a little closer and read it. He BURST OUT LAUGHING. It was soo loud haha. And shouted over to us “I LOVE IT!” He kept grabbing the security guy and pointing to the three of us trying to get us over so that we could see him, but he couldn’t. S’ok though because we amused him and all was well in the world. Just in case you’re wondering the sign said

“GAVIN, CAN WE FLUFF YOUR HAIR” –something a bit g-rated and clever..it was a family event ya know!

Concert starts and we head back to our designated spots…they do a terrific job with the opening songs as usual! We had another neon pink sign with us haha. This one was just for Brian because he one of our favorite guitarists of all time. His amazing talent inspired us to great the “BRIAN IS F’ING HOT!!” sign. We were closest to Whynot so on the big screen I looked over just in time to see Whynot go over and shout past Gavin to Brian to look over at our sign. He had the sweetest shyest smile!! Whynot just starting laughing and Rodney accidently forgot he was supposed to start off the song and started clapping and laughing and pointing at us. Much fun!! Gavin looked over during the middle of one of his songs and had to turn around because he was about to laugh hysterically again.

We walked up to the jersey barrier and started rocking out front stage near Whynot and Rodney. We seemed to be the only people in our section who actually knew the names of anyone besides Gavin, and with the power of three it’s easier to shout up to them. Whynot and Rodney kept smiling at us anytime we would play our air drums and air bass. Haha, even Brian would come around the bend and spot us..we think he liked our sign a little bit. Hooray!

Here are some concert clips, some are blurry because holding your ground in a moving audience isn’t as easy as it seems..sorry!

(Meet Gavin’s bike. I’m pretty sure it’s his counting on he enjoyed riding it in circles around his bus!)

(That’s Gav on the jersey wall. He’s a very brave soul, he traveled fifty feet out into unsecured crowd singing during Chemical Party. Haha, the security guys couldn’t stop him!)

After the show they started to leave back for their bus and even though one of the Fair Announcers said that Rodney wouldn’t be throwing his drum sticks out into the crowd because he wouldn’t want to hurt someone, he walked up to the edge of the stage, called to the three of us and tossed it! He did a little happy dance when Genevieve caught it!

We headed back towards the buses because we were really amused by this point and Gavin saw us. He kept pointing towards us and talking with the security guards and told us he’d be out in 5 minutes. When he came back off his bus he left in his little golf cart to go sign things for people and kept pointing at us to get our attention. So we went to go find Brian, Whynot and Rodney! Everyone had gone by now to go see Hoobastank so Whynot, Brian and Rodney ventured away from their protective little bus to come see us, we were the only ones around there. They soon found out that fangirls, like tornados, can appear out of nowhere and were mobbed. It was actually really funny. We waiting a while but then went over to Brian when he got a free minute. He’s really great to talk to, such a nice fella, told us about upcoming vacation and that he’d get to see Joey soon and we just talked for some time. Then he lit up when he understood that we were giving him the sign. It was really cool to see Brian act a bit hyper haha! Rodney found us and I slipped him a note, we wanted to see if they wanted some food from the fair (they had some good shit out there! Great fair food mmmm) whynot was swamped in fangirls though and unfortunately Anna was the only one who could get to him after leaping over a security guard. Whynot said she was really lucky and told security that she was with him. After the fans left, Brian and Whynot said they had to go back to the bus and pack but Rodney stayed and talked with us for a while. He was great, he said he was really happy that we got the drum stick and that we were really amusing from the stage. He is uber-excited about vacation because his activities include seeing his favorite people in the world. We were joking about how Joey would be all annoyed when he would be bunking in Rodney’s bed and seeing pictures of his son and girlfriend everywhere haha. Unfort. We couldn’t buy him a steak because they were hitting the road early so they could get back home to NY (plus Rodney ate like a pig before hand). A couple of famous Rodney hugs later we said our goodbyes and he made his way back to the bus.

We decided we were too excited to leave just yet and stayed and rocked out on the Jersey wall listening to Hoobastank. Gen is a GREAT head banger by the way. A couple hours later, after everyone had been thrown out of the area, the concert was over and 99% of the fangirls had left we decided to stick around the gates and watch the very nice forklifters (who we spent much time with) go back and forth loading sound system and light equipment. We still had the urge for a hair fluffing. Then Gavin finally came out of his bus and jogged his way up to the gates as I’m shouting at him “IT RUNS! RUN FASTER!!” heeheehee. He talked to a few other fans first but came over to us. This is how it went down yall:

Gavin: Hey! I’m Gavin *smiles*
Me: *laughs* No way! I just did not know that.
Anna: so, can we fluff you’re hair, for real?
Gav: No ma’am you may not, but you can touch it!

[Haha, someone’s a little anal about his hair, but s’ok, he still let us fluff a bit! Squeaky clean he was..]

Me: Can I ask you a question? What’s on your dog tags? I’m curious!
Gavin: [insert information here]
Me: The song you sang at sound check..was that a cover or one of yours? It was really beautiful, I like it a lot.
Anna: We belong together..
Gav: Yep, that’s my song! It’s gonna be on my next album, go buy it!

A bus honk later we bid our farewell’s and the end to a highly amusing concert experience took over. We had many random people on our way out ask us if we actually got to fluff his hair..apparently we become a bit known haha. Yay for temporary concert stars!

Sorry it’s so long. The details are more for me to remember later on because I have a really baad memory. Plus I type exactly what I’m thinking and apparently I think in paragraphs. Hope you enjoyed the photos!

My mom is coming home from the rehab center tomorrow morning (hooray!) & I have finally been guaranteed housing at Champlain, that makes life a lot easier on me. I don't really have much to share except a few new recommendations I have "over-heard" from people. It's something I do. When someone mentions something that peeks my interest such as a musician or movie or anything in general really, I like to write it down and find out more about it later, I tend to do the same thing with words I don't know. I'll highlight them, circle them, write them on my hand, whatever. So here is this weeks list.

.Tom Waits.
.Donny Hathaway.
.Jethro Tull.
.Randy Newmann.
.The purchase of a durable pocket knife and dog tags XD.

I went to Wolftrap to see Gav & his band, Tolch, & Howie Day. They all did a brilliant performance, Howie Day has a great voice but it makes me really drowsy, oh well not my style I guess. There is something to be said for a smaller more free venue. Gav seemed really pissed off after the show. Though, I probobly would be too if I said I'd try and sign as many things for people as I could after the show and then Wolftrap kicks 90% of the audience out in 20 minutes flat. I'm not gifted when it comes to music, but these people have made me seriously consider maybe finding a job related to music. How great would a job be if you could help out the musicians who are true to themselves and thier music and work them around all the bullshit legits of the music industry. Anyway, I made a little short video after the show for my friend Meg. You can DL it here:

Also my friends and I got pulled into a picture with Gav. Haha it was sweet of him but none of us were looking to take a picture with him so it looks a bit eff'd up. XD Not to mention it's blurry but I'm gonna save it because it makes me laugh.

Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

Wow, I haven't really posted much in a while. A lot of things have been happening lately, both good and bad.

I went to beach week at Ocean City last week with two of my friends. It was great, we had a condo that belonged to my friend's grandparents on 69th street. Absolutely everywhere, everyone was drunk. I swear there was not a sober person within 5 miles of us at any given time! It was a riot though, I've never been hit on so much in life, or asked to smoke, drink, or have sex. It was funny, I was greatly amused. Especially by this one guy Nick. Nick from PA. He kicked ass. Absolutely great taste in music and besides him wanting to hump every piece of furniture in his place and thinking my water bottle was full of Vodka he had great moral judgement lol! Okay maybe not. But it was cool to talk to him. And then there were the guys in the condo above ours. They were about 26 or so. So let's piece this together: four 26 year old guys, two hot cars, one condo full of beer, loud music till 5am. Hmmm..I wonder what was going through thier heads! On our walk back 20 blocks from the boardwalk we would see them carrying truckloads full of drunk girls back to thier condo..it was highly amusing. Funny thing was they were all sweethearts though. They were like "if the music is too loud you can tell us to shutup *under breath* or you could just come up!" All in all it was funtastic, and I bought my very first lighter. I'm so happy, now I can burn stuff! Just kidding..or am I?

Bad news is I'm still a bit depressed. I think I'm starting to come out of it..I hope. I'm just all over the place, it's really rather frustrating. But I'll deal. I'm pretty sure I'm on the upside now though, I've stopped considering getting drunk and smoking...just for the record I'm not for either of those things but I was starting to run out of options..they seem sorta stupid now. And while I was at the beach my mom fell down the stairs and shattered both knee-caps and broke one foot. She's going to spend the next three weeks in a nursing home doing physical therapy but right now she can barely move. It's not so good but my dad and I are trying to keep her spirits up. On my part this means I'm going to have to stay home this summer and take care of her. Our house is very split-level and I'll be doing a lot of work. I will because I love her & will be there for anyone I love till the end, but now I can't get a job (unless this illustrating thing pulls though, i hope i hope i hope). Also much of my college forms and materials aren't prepared at all, and for as much as I love my dad he can't handle these sort of things. Which means I'm going to have prepare my loans, debit and school accounts, medical forms, and God knows what else in order by myself pretty much. Not to mention I still don't have a place to live once I get there. And I don't even want to go there. But that can't be my problem right now because if I don't sort out this crap I'm going to lose my insurance coverage and I really don't need that. Okay well now I'm just ranting I guess but I think I needed to write it down for myself ya know. It's just sincerely frustrating dealing with college plus my mom plus having to take care of my parents because they are in so deep themselves that they can't handle thier own depression and work efficiently too. It's not fair..but then again life isn't fair so I just have to keep on truckin cause I'm not gonna let myself sulk for the rest of my life. There is no way in hell I'm going down with this crap. I refuse to betray everyone I love, what I believe in, and myself.

On a brighter note, the Gavin DeGraw concert is in nine days. Hooray! I really want to see if I can meet his band again there. It will probobly be the last chance I get till next summer since no one really tours in Vermont. I feel like an uber-dork but they really do count in my book. They are really cool to me because they worked hard and chased thier dreams, and I know so many people in my life haven't had the courage or the will to do that and settle for second best. I have a few other hero's too, like my brother and my sister-in-law, two of my teachers, a couple of friends...I admire them for good reasons, at least to me. They represent what great qualties I lack and when I look at them it makes me want to try and be like that. They are my meds lol. Everything I like, everything I do, I do for a sincere reason.

I finally bought the camera that I wanted. It is scheduled for arrival within 4-10 days. Hooray!

I also finally replaced my lost cell phone after 5 months. Double hooray!

Did you know that there are Marvin Gaye "Sexual Healing" ringtones? Talk about the wrong song to go off on the metro at 2am jeez..

I just spent 30 bucks on Thank You cards. wtf?

Boxers are a girls best friend. Am I not right?

My friend Anna and I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. If you haven't seen it already you should, it's a kick ass movie. And if you have, you should see it again because you miss a lot of stuff! Also you might check out Fight Club..it's a bit darker but I liked it more I think. It's also by the same director. Oh! and A Knights Tale..just because it has the best soundtrack ever!

30 days till concert-time.

I just saw Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. It's f'in brilliant!

You need to go see it. It was by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. Everyone was great in the movie, it was absolutely AMAZING. I felt so bad for Anakin! You really see the evolution of Darth Vader and I really don't see him as an evil character anymore, he is just one of the most human characters in the entire plot. If I was in Star Wars, I would be him. You really think like him and it's rather scary because you see the logic and why he turns to the Dark Side and the whole understanding of the Light and Dark side turns grey. Hayden Christensen now has my respect. A few hours ago I thought he was an arrogant pretty boy who couldn't act..now he is an amazing actor who is f'in hot!!! I usually wouldn't admit me being wrong about an actor like this but he by far redeemed his acting skills in this movie. He is so good, he will go so far in life if he acts as well as he did in this movie. I'm very proud of him as well as Ewan McGreggor and the creators of Yoda and Frank Oz. You guys rock my socks.

Kudos to all those who worked on Star Wars Episode III. Your imagination extends beyond all others, your creativity is greater than anyone else, your work ethic is inspiring and your respect grows each day. Sleep well you've done a good job guys.

I bought two cd's today. Hooray! My friend Genevieve has got me on this Kaiser Chiefs & Killers kick so I decided to splurge 20 bucks and get them. Their two music styles are fun and funky, they are allowed to stay I think ;) I should be studying for my trigonometry exam that is tomorrow but I can't concentrate at all. I really really should be studying. That would be one less F on my report card that my parents will see. Not that it will matter much anyway, by now I probobly won't be allowed to go to the concert in June. Bummer. I really need that fix too. It will probobly be the last chance I get before I head off to VT for college.

I really wish I could just climb on out of this, it's really doing a number on me here. Maybe things will get better soon though ya know. It's times like these that finding the best in a situation and being optimistic are really hard. There is always something to smile about, I still believe that...but apparently it's not enough to save you.

I don't have much to say except that I'm printing out lots and lots of material for my religion essays. Why? I dunno, because I'm lazy and I won't read this material at all unless it's on the metro in the morning or sometime at school. My computer is way to distracting, and yet, I still work best at it. I believe I would call this a dilemma.

While all of this is printing I decided to check out some Mraz songs. I do believe I love this man.

Amanda's reasons for loving Jason Mraz:

1. He is a f'in good singer with a deadly yet sweet mixture of rock, rap, jazz and southern twang.
2. He wears chucks.
3. He is a "hat person".
4. He is very witty and an amusing blogger.
5. He agrees that Virginia sucks. Yes. It does. Please concur.
6. He loves / sings about coffee. *squee*
7. He is passionate about his career.
8. He is equally capable of singing a song about love and the meaning of life just as much as he is capable of singing a song about sex, weed, and 'mraztrubation'.
9. He makes llama pancakes.
10.I bet he could wipe out entire cities with his vicious rhetoric.

Amanda's reasons for not loving Jason Mraz:

1. He smokes (sexy but deadly)
2. He has special brownies with Willie Nelson and Dave Matthews.
3. He owns an iPod. (that bastard..)

Minor details. I can work past them by just thinking of the chucks & llama pancakes.

I'm going to go spend some quality time with my pillow now. Adios.

I decided to do some "weeding" in my Live Journal today. THANKS JOHN! Yeah..I don't want to be depressing so I'm trashing all the crap that weighs it down. Keep it real but keep it light right? Hey! I'm a poet and I didn't even know it.. *amused*

Senior skip day was super-awesome. My class had the brilliant idea of making it 5.5.05. Ingenious. No, really. Think of all the people out there like me who can't remember a date to save thier lives x_x (Forgot it was Mother's Day today, soooo glad I bought the gift and card before today. eep. That would have been bad.) I really hadn't planned to do anything on skip day because a lot of my friends were going to school, but at the last minute my friend Anna and I decided to bum rides to the beach with John. Not too bad, Ocean City is only 3 hours away so we had a good amount of time there. We spent a lot of time down on the beach, which was fairly empty and no one was in the water (maybe we should have taken the hint that the water was f'in cold!!). Oh well..cold water is a minor detail. We only planned to stick our feet in but we all came out soaked. I lucked out, only my pants got wet although that isn't so good when your pants are too big and really heavy ANYWHO the day really rocked my socks. Lots of sand fights, screaming, barking, juggling, laughing, ..basically anything with an 'ing' following lol. I actually remembered a camera this time so hopefully in a few days I can post some beach shots up. I think for the most part we did more than most people in our class did. I mean if you're going to risk getting into some deep shit with your school or in my case with my dad who *cough* still doesn't know, live it up. Senior skip day is a one time thing, so make the most of it. It's great to prepare for your future and try and keep a spotless record but don't forget to live a bit in the now too. Would you rather miss a bunch of pointless high school classes or one really really important college course where you would miss a lot? I thought so.

K well back to juggling, I'm gonna nail this little bugger if it's the last thing I do..*still waay amused*
